This morning I had breakfast with a friend who I had featured in an earlier post. He was updating me on the progress of his relationship with his wife. He'd moved to Kelowna to start a carpentry finishing business. His wife had remained in a teaching job in another town. The stark choice was between his business and his marriage. I'd counseled him to make the relationship the priority.
Well, he reports that it all came to a head when his wife had a decision to make on renewing her teacher's contract. She asked my friend, "What do you want?" He replied, " I want you, I want God, I want me, and I want us all together in one place." She was very moved by his sincere reply and so she decided to give up her teaching position and join him in a new community.
My friend, the entrepreneur, was willing to lay down his lucrative business for his wife. She was willing to lay down her job to be with him. God was able to take these sincere desires and turn it into a renewed marriage. This is a happy ending to an all too common story that usually does not have a happy ending. This is faith at work healing relationships and building families.
