Biography:

Born & raised in Vancouver, BC, I moved my family to Kelowna in 1988 to work in the voluntary sector with the Central Okanagan United Way. I operated my own business, Okanagan Target Marketing, and managed my father's Cherry Orchard for 4 years before joining Youth With A Mission. We sold the orchard, closed the business and left our home to go to Zambia for two years. While in Zambia I developed a program to train Zambian Entrepreneurs in planning a successful small business and founded the Christian Enterprise Trust of Zambia. CETZAM is a microfinance organization with a capitalization of over $10 million. The Times of Zambia recently reported it has created and sustained over 100,000 jobs since its inception! Presently, I reside in Kelowna, BC, Canada. I am happily married with three teenage children. I am the founder of Youth With A Mission, Marketplace Mission. a ministry of YWAM (BC) Society Inc. I also look after the business side of my wife's medical clinic.

Quotes:

The Church has to wake up to its calling to present Jesus Christ - the person - and how he brings transformation to individuals, but also to businesses, corporations, hospitals, health care systems, etc. This is different than simply transplanting church programs into the marketplace.  It means more than just transforming individuals so that they can join the Church.  It calls for creative thinking and incarnational living to see even wider possibilities of transforming the workplaces themselves, the corporate cultures." In Faith Today Magazine, A publication of the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada, January/February 2003 Issue.

"When we got back from Zambia in 1996 everyone was asking us 'Are you going to stay in Missions?' Most people think Missions is something you do over there, in Africa. In fact, most Christians think that the Great Commission is for professional ministry people, zealous Christians who have a call from God to leave their secular jobs and serve Him full time! If you are a Christian you are in Missions! Missions is just as important here in Canada, as it is in Zambia. Missions is about a way of thinking as much as it is a place or a people group." King and I, YWAM Associates Seminar Singapore, 2003.

"This is a bonafide, demonstrable marketplace miracle," says Mike McLoughlin of Youth With A Mission, who chaired CETZAM during its fledgling days in 1995. "There's no question God did this," he adds.  In the article "It's time for Marketplace Ministry." in the June 14th, 2003 issue of Charisma Magazine.  Click here to read an excerpt of the article.
