These are the words of the former President of South Vietnam, Nguyen Van Thieu, who was warning the world about the future of his nation under a communist government.
I thought of how it applies not only to communists but to all people who purportedly have a cause to serve, a promise to prove or a commitment to keep such as Christians in the workplace.
Seeing Christians at work wearing their WWJD bracelet, handing out business cards with an embossed fish symbol and sharing the gospel story with customers, People ought to say, "Don't listen to what the Christians say, watch what the Christians do!"
It wasn't what Jesus said that got him in trouble with the authorities; it is what he did that really irked them. He healed people on the Sabbath. He touched lepers. He invited sinners to sup with him. He road a donkey into Jerusalem. He got a whip and cleared the temple of money changers. Jesus actions spoke far more powerfully than his words did. Often, what he said was interpreting what it was he was doing.
He embodied what he believed. He said, I AM the truth, (John 14:6). It is not just that Jesus speaks the truth, but that in His right action, He embodied that truth.
So, just as Jesus did it, we must embody the truth in our right actions when we take our faith to work. It's up to us to prove the gospel by demonstrating it so that when we recommend it, we recommend it with integrity.
