Re: Does the Bible Limit Christian Youth to Church work only?
by
Robbymac
I find myself agreeing with both Mike and David.
Churches sometimes err on the side of "professional ministry" when it comes to career choices. Of course, in some evangelical circles, ministry is a "career choice" and not a "calling", which creates problems of another kind.
I agree that the five-fold ministries are expressed through the Body, in both the church and the world -- I don't believe (exegetically and contextually speaking) that the five-fold should be called "offices" as if they were elevated positions of authority OVER other believers. That may sound like I'm arguing semantics, but words have power and are therefore important.
If we don't see the five-fold ministries as "positions" (possibly paid positions), but rather as ministry gifts to bless others, then may God raise up many youth to be apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers in the world and in the church.
