Re: Defining Reality & Dealing in Hope - Facts, Feelings & Faith - Part One
by Mark Goodyear
Interesting and gutsy post. I appreciate your candor. Parts of the speech worked for me and parts didn't. The biggest problem Bush seems to face here is that he has lost credibility with many Americans. As a result it is very difficult to read through all the spin coming from his side as he does everything in his power to regain credibility--and from the other side as they do everything in their power to make him look untrustworthy. Someone said the news is like trying to read history with your nose on the page of the book. We're just too close. But all of this raises two more questions: 1) How can Christians be responsible political activists--aligning with a specific party as individuals or churches--without damaging their credibility when the opposition party inevitably rises to power again? 2) What does is look like to be a faithful Christian and politician? (Not being a politically savvy, maybe I should just throw the lever in the voting booth and keep my mouth shut.)
