Re: Re: Why do I stay at New Life Church? Making the Hard Decision to Care Covenantally for My Church Family.
by

That's the point my friend was making about sizzle without beef. Yes, the church owes us a feeding opportunity on Sunday morning, owes us stability, wise decision making over the long haul, provide a safe environment where community can grow, What happens when the church doesn't deliver on that? That's when you have to make the hard decision.
We can choose to be consumer Christians. Christians who say the church is not delivering on what they owe us. But is that not like the debtor in Jesus' parable who gets forgiven an impossible amount but then throws his fellow debtor into prison because he can't meet his obligations?
People can put their church into a perceptual prison, in a wait and see place, until the church gets its act together in the teaching department, or whatever.
So you keep your church in that perceptual prison, until you go to another church which does have its act together.
But then after a few years, they make some mistakes, and well, you put them in a perceptual prison as well.
And if you live in the community long enough you probably have four or five churches you have "in prison", and guess where you are? You are no longer in church at all because you have condemned them all.
Is that not exactly what Satan wants?
